Dawn of running season

You know it's the dawn of another running season when a major Canadian newspaper gives it readers a primer. Oh, and the weather is nice.

Check out the Globe and Mail's coverage, from numbers that drive runners to how not to hit a wall.

“With running there’s this natural gravitation towards crunching numbers,” says Michal Kapral, editor-in-chief of Canadian Running Magazine. “You’re always asking yourself, ‘How far am I going? How fast? What’s my pace per kilometre? How do I convert to pace per mile? If I ran this pace for a five k what would I run it in?’ ”

And I didn't know it's important to boost your iron: "Without enough iron, your aerobic capacity is reduced and you’ll fatigue early," writes Leslie Beck.

RunCast 12 - Cross-country Marathon/iPhone Apps for Runners

As we record this podcast, the closing ceremony of the Vancouver winter olympic games is in full swing. Natalie couldn't resist the Olympic mood and prepared an appropriate topic to go with it: a cross-country marathon. She also fills us in on the Toronto's duel of marathons. Zoran talks about his hands-on experience with some really cool iPhone apps for runners and gives some useful tips how to make them work even better.
